I am really struggling with how to specify the access settings for to limit the view of a component to only a few users. How do I do this?

This is maybe simplest possible explanation :)
Principle:
1. create user group "x" for "few users"
2. connect "few users" also to user group "x" (user can be connected to several groups)
3. connect "limit the view of a component" to user group "x"
Connect user to extra user groups:
1. go to: ACCESS/current user group/user/ MEMBERSHIP/
2. select user groups
Connect component to usergroup(s):
1. go to: ACCESS/current usergroup/
2. select user group "x"
3. click folder icon let side of sitename
4. click Components
5. select component(s) what you want connet to usergroup "x" by:
- clicking first eye icon
- clicking component (icon right of component name)
- remember click save
Note:
Component(s) include lock/eye icon. its control component visibility:
