Trouble with Event Calendar WebBit
I tried to use the event calendar WebBit and ran into some problems. I did the component include and was able to see the event calendar, but when I click a date the spinning graphic appears and it sticks there. Is there a setting I have missed?

jayHammer joins the discussion. Just because I saw this problem and wanted to help.

Here is some really basic guidelines for webbits - which will be made a comlete guide with HammerKit Studio webbits later on... But the basic principles go like this:

#1. Read the instructions from the webbit component. It tells what parameters it expects and other actions that are needed for integrating it.

#2. Check input parameters for component include from those comments.
#2.1. Private type parameter - means that they have to be given in the component include element.
#2.2. Variable type parameter - means that they have to be set as variables (with logic element) before the inclusion of the webbit is made.

Example for #2: Some variables might be needed to point to existing components that come with the webbit. It is because the maker of the webbit wanted it to be possible to show different components depending on the situation (like if user is logged in or not etc.). The maker of the webbit wanted to give the choice what happens (which view is shown) from links to the designer. Most likely these are missing - and the calendar webbit doesn't know which view it's supposed to show when date is clicked (either the ADD NEW EVENT view or LIST EVENTS view etc.).

#3. Creating data storage... Many webbits might need a data storage created. In v.3.5 it's simple - just create one component called "calendar storage" for example. And then make the logic-set to create the variable. Most likely this is missing also from your example and it doesn't work

#4. Make any required access settings.

#5. If some popup-views come with the template... You should edit them and change the template setting to "no html skeleton". This is a known issue in HK 3.5 that it looses the "no template" settings with the copy.

Once I wrote all this... Made me have an idea for future (once we improve this calendar webbit). I will make it easier to include it - there will be modes "view" or "edit" - and that way there will be less parameters for the designer. And default would be "view mode".
Then only "data storage" settings are needed - and implementation is much easier.

So I could say also:
Thank you for giving us good idea how to improve this webbit in near future. :)
